Some people say that rice is not a good idea before going to bed, as it provides high levels of sugar. On the other hand, rice causes less of an energy spike and crash than other sugary foods, so if you're craving something sweeter in the late hours of the evening, it may still be a better option than ice cream or biscuits with jam. Keep in mind also that during digestion our stomachs produce tryptophan - an amino acid that induces sleepiness.
