That’s what the history tells us, and this history has been repeating itself since last five occasions.

Call it an uncanny coincidence, or some kind of political phenomenon, but DUSU election results are affecting (more like predicting) the Lok Sabha elections since last five times, and this year too, I’m afraid, the streak would continue.

The results of 2018 DUSU elections were announced yesterday, and it resulted in the domination of ABVP (Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarhthi Parishad), which is the student wing of BJP government. ABVP’s Ankiv Basoya, Shakti Singh and Jyoti Choudhary, bagged the posts of President, Vice President, and Joint Secretary respectively, while the post of Secretary was bagged by Akash Choudhary of ABVP’s arch-rival and Congress Party’s students’ arm, NSUI (National Student Union of India).

Just like Indian politics at the center, Delhi University’s politics is also divided by two major factions, one guided by BJP and the other by Congress. This is the reason why DUSU (Delhi University Students’ Union) elections affect Indian politics more than JNUSU (Jawahar Lal Nehru Universirty Students’ Union) elections, which is predominantly Left in its nature.

So keeping the historical politics and political coincidences of the past years in mind, the chances of Mr. Modi getting to power once again seem even higher now. No wonder that the big leaders of BJP and Congress are involved in the selection of the candidates for DUSU elections.

The coming ton power of late Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Mr. Manmohan Singh was also followed by the domination of ABVP and NSUI in the respective years. I don’t want this streak to continue, but that’s what seems like is going to happen.
