Pongal is the easiest yet healthy and tastiest food from south india. If you would like to know how to make pongal, here it is. Boil rice with moong dal (dal portion should be quarter the size of rice). In a pan, heat ghee, add curry leaves, pepper and cumins and salt. For taste, we can add cashews. Add all these into the boiled rice and dal. The tastiest and easiest pongal is ready to taste.

Dry roast 14 cups of moong dal until aromatic before making Pongal. Then rinse ¾ cup of rice and cook it with the moong dal in 4 cups of water until soft and mushy. In a pan, heat 2 tablespoons of ghee and fry cashews, black pepper, cumin seeds, ginger, and curry leaves until fragrant. Pour this seasoning over the cooked rice and dal mixture, add salt to taste, and mix well. Serve hot with coconut chutney or Sambar for a delicious, traditional South Indian dish.
