There are three simple ways to take a screenshot on a laptop:

  • Use the Print Screen key: Press the Print Screen key on your keyboard to take a screenshot of your entire screen. The screenshot will be saved to your clipboard.

  • Use the Alt + Print Screen key: Press the Alt and Print Screen keys at the same time to take a screenshot of the active window on your screen. The screenshot will also be saved to your clipboard.

  • Use the Snip & Sketch tool: To take a picture of your screen, press the Windows key, Shift, and S together. Then, use your mouse to choose the part of the screen you want. After you've selected it, click on the "Snip" button. The picture will be saved so you can paste it into any program that can handle images.

Once you have taken a screenshot, you can paste it into any program that supports images, such as Microsoft Paint, Adobe Photoshop, or Microsoft Word.

For Windows:

1. Full-Screen Shot

Hit the PrtScn key. This captures the whole screen and saves it to your clipboard. You can paste it into any program, for example, Word, or Paint by hitting Ctrl + V.

2. Capture a Specific Window

Hit Alt + PrtScn to capture the currently active window. Again, you can paste it into a program.

3. Save the Screenshot Directly to the File (Windows 10/11)

Press Windows Key + PrtScn. It takes a screenshot of a whole screen and saves it automatically within Pictures > Screenshots.

4. Screen area shot (10/11):

Press the Windows key + Shift + S on the keyboard. Snip & Sketch is activated after you click this. And with that, you just have to select the rectangle in order to capture its picture. It will directly paste on your clipboard for that particular shot.

5. Snip and Sketch (Windows 10/11)

You can also use the Snipping Tool (or Snip & Sketch) for more options, including free-form and rectangular screenshots. Open it from the Start menu and select the type of screenshot you want.
