Well, many fans are of the opinion that Captain Marvel has dropped in at a wrong time in the timeline of MCU movies. The primary motive of the movie, as we all know, is to set a ground for the upcoming Avengers: Endgame, but still, we wish a better time was chosen for the release of this Marvel movie.

The Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck directed Captain Marvel has no flaw, whatsoever in itself though. It is a good ride throughout with good VFX, tight script, and excellent performances by the performers.
The story revolves around the Alien race Kree which calls Earth C-35. The race is at war with another alien race called Skrull, and Carol Danvers (played by Brie Larson) is a space warrior belonging to Kree. She has already fought quite a lot of space and intergalactic wars, even before getting introduced to us.

Danvers is sent to the earth as a spy, Captain Marvel to the earth in the ear of 1990s. On the earth, she is supposed to fight even a fiercer battle –that of finding about her past and fighting with her own past identity.
Brie Larson, whom Forbes has called one of the finest actors in the film industry right now, has given a brilliant performance, both as a superhero and as the captain of fighter jets. Her timing and chemistry with a much younger Nick Fury is admirable in the movie. One more thing which is worth our admiration is Jude Law as Yon-Rogg.
Talking of VFX and CGI, it is as realistic as it can be. The sequences of space wars, piloting, and fights are so breathtaking, that you would wonder at the perfect blend of the 90s era and the alien invasion that this movie brings forth.

MCU’s one of many specialties, its humor is on point in Captain Marvel as well. It makes the rather non-linear storyline interesting and engaging.
Throughout the movie, we are acquainted with Captain Marvel well enough to expect her changing the fate of the Marvel universe in Avengers: Endgame. We, however, would have been happier had we known more about Captain Marvel’s origins before jumping to her role in the last Avengers movie, releasing next month.

So to answer your question, this movie will help you to get a better insight of Avengers: Endgame, when it releases, but not enough to guess or make sense of Captain Marvel’s role in the movie. No one, however, can tell exactly how much the two movies are interconnected before the release of Endgame.
