Spices, as all of us Indians very well know, are essential ingredients in all our food items. Cooking in an Indian kitchen is next to impossible and hard to imagine in the absence of spices.
But have you ever thought of shifting these spices from your kitchen shelves to the shelves of your dressing table?

It is nothing awkward or unusual. We Indians love to explore the medicinal and beautifying qualities of almost every plant that is available to us that the same is true with spices. There are many spices which help in the beautification of skin and in bringing the natural glow to it.
Since childhood, I have lived with my grandma and she has never let me used any cosmetic product ever. She has always used what we Indians popularly call “Gharelu Nuskhe” whenever it came to taking care of my skin, hair, and beauty.
Here are some spices, the beautifying importance of which I was told by my grandma.

Ginger juice has antioxidant properties. Whenever there was an injury or burn, my grandma used to apply ginger juice on it as it helps the scars fade quickly. It has also helped meto
get rid of acne.
2. Turmeric

I don’t think I want to say anything about this one spice. It has some qualities is evident by its use just before a bride or groom’s wedding day. Yes, it is one of the most used beautifying agents in India. Remember Vicco Turmeric Ayurvedic Cream?
It is also an antiseptic agent and makes the skin radiant.
My grandma used to make a face mask by mixing turmeric with gram flour and milk for healthy and glowing skin.
3. Cinnamon

I never used it as it can’t be used on sensitive skin, but according to my knowledge, it is used for tightening the skin. It also helps to lighten the wrinkles and is a great exfoliating agent.
One should use it only after a skin patch test as it’s a strong spice which can damage the sensitive skin.
4. Black Pepper

We all know that fennel is used as a mouth freshener for its cooling properties. Well, this cooling effect is used to reduce the skin irritations. Fennel powder can tone your skin and bring a glow to it. An antioxidant and an antiseptic agent, it also makes the skin flexible.
How many of these have you tried?
