She is considered to be a reincarnation of Vedvati who was molested by Ravan so as to become the consort of Lord Vishnu.Due to this,Ravana was cursed by her that she would be the cause of his destruction in her next life.
In some versions of Ramayana, there is mention of Maya Sita. So,it is said it was Maya Sita who Ravana abducted and the real Sita came to the Fire God Agni which paved way to her meeting Goddess Parvati.
There are also some bizarre yet sensible speculations that Sita could actually be the daughter of Ravana who was said to destroy his lineage which is why he abandoned her as a child and ordered her to be buried in a distant land where he was discovered by Janak.
