What is more important – academic subjects or sports world?

I think academic subjects and sports world are incomparable to each other as both of them are important in their own right. While academic subjects or academic learning educates you theoretically, sports do the same in a practical manner.

We all know that even if we are thinking of making our career in tennis or football, we need to have elementary education at least. Similarly, even if we are aspiring to become a professor, or a doctor, or even a researcher, we can’t neglect the importance of sports in our life.

While sports are important for our physical health, academics are important for our mental well-being, and more than that our intellectual capabilities.

If we see from the point of view of career and success, even then both of them can’t be compared to each other. Academics give you pretty good income at a certain point and post. Sports, however has the potential to earn name, fame, and unprecedented wealth for you if you are a cricket player or if you are the best player in any other sport. While academics pay you moderately but gives you certainty and security, sports can make you extremely rich and famous but that’s highly uncertain.

Hi there!

Sports helps you keep your physical and mental health stable . Studies increases your intellect! You can consider pv sindhu's example she is a sports person and now she is a district collector and yes she completed her studies alongside sports. In India where formal education is more important I would suggest you to keep a moderate balance between the both. Yes sports can make your carrier but success rates are one in millions for those with no educational background. Both are equally important.

It is unfair to sacrifice sports classes for academics. Several times towards the end of term or nearing the examination teachers ‘borrow’ the weekly sports classes in order to complete portions, and for revision. This is unfair on the students. They are under pressure of the examination; it is wrong to deny them a little time for sports. In most schools, sports and games are only an hour or two each week. Teachers ought not to use these classes for their subjects.

Some people argue that students who participate in sports spend more time on sports than on their academics. This is detrimental to the student’s academics and career. They say that not every student who participates in sports at the school level will become a professional sportsperson. So by concentrating on sports at the cost of academics will eventually ruin a student’s future. However, this does not mean a student should completely give up on sports.

It is important to balance studies and schoolwork with other activities. It is quite possible to carry on sports along with academics, as long as the student learns to strike a healthy balance between the two.
