Rich Communication Services (RCS) is a new messaging standard that upgrades SMS and MMS with modern features like read receipts, typing indicators, and high-quality photo and video sharing. It also works over Wi-Fi, so you can send and receive messages even when you don't have cell service.
To use RCS chat, you need to have a compatible device and carrier, and you need to enable RCS chat in your messaging app. Once you have RCS chat enabled, you can send and receive RCS messages with anyone else who has RCS chat enabled. RCS messages are automatically identified by their blue chat bubbles.
RCS chat works by sending and receiving messages through your carrier's RCS servers. This process is very similar to how SMS messages are sent, but it's much faster and more reliable. RCS messages are also delivered in real time, so you can see when the recipient has received and read your message.
RCS chat offers a number of benefits over SMS and MMS, including:

- Read receipts and typing indicators:You can see when the recipient has received and read your message, and you can also see when they're typing a reply.
- High-quality photo and video sharing:You can send and receive high-resolution photos and videos without having to worry about them being compressed or downsampled.
- Group chats with advanced features:RCS chat supports group chats with up to 100 participants, and you can add and remove participants from group chats at any time.
- Wi-Fi support:You can send and receive RCS messages over Wi-Fi, so you can stay connected even when you don't have cell service.
