Digital India is a flagship program launched by the Government of India with the aim of transforming India into a digitally empowered society and knowledge economy. The program was launched in 2015 with a vision to provide digital infrastructure as a utility to every citizen, governance, and services on demand, and digital empowerment of citizens.
Under this program, various initiatives have been launched to enhance digital infrastructure, digital literacy, digital services, and digital empowerment. Some of the key initiatives include the establishment of the National Optical Fibre Network (NOFN), Digital Locker, MyGov.in, eSign framework, and the Unified Payment Interface (UPI) for secure and seamless digital transactions.
