Saawan or Shraavan or Monsoon brings joy and happiness with itself. The month is no less than any festival with swings all around and women reveling on Teej, wearing green bangles, and adorning themselves according to the spirit of the season.
The month of Saawan is considered very sacred according to Hindu mythology. And as expected, there are some things which are prohibited to do in this month. Some of them are:
• If you fast and
worship Lord Shiva, don’t offer turmeric to his idol. It is because turmeric is related to women.
• One should not have milk in the month of Saawan as it is used in the worship of Lord Shiva. Raw milk should not be consumed. Boiled milk can be taken however.
• It is inauspicious to have egg plant in the month of Saawan.
• Stay away from evil thoughts and deeds as much as possible. Fasting and worshiping won’t work if you are harboring evil thoughts internally.
