As you must be knowing, the plant of Basil has both scientific and spiritual importance. According to scriptures, we should not pluck the leaves of Basil plant on Wednesday and Sunday. The plant of Basil is worshiped in India, as per Hindu mythology. Apart from scientific and spiritual importance, it has medicinal values as well.

Along with Wednesday and Sunday, the leaves of Basil plant should also be not plucked on the day of Ekadashi (11th day of the month according to Hindu calendar). In an important vastu shastra tip it is said, “We should never offer Basil leaves to the idol of Lord Ganesha and to Shivalinga. Doing so is prohibited in Hinduism”.
The place of Tulsi or Basil is given to her by Lord Vishnu. Tulsi can not be kept in someone’s home permanently. It would always be kept in courtyard of the house. Lord Vishnu also said that hi worship would be incomplete without the worship of Basil.
