Ravishankar Jayadritha Shastri is an Indian cricketer , former commentator, or an coach of the Indian National cricket team. He was bron on 27 June 1962 in Mumbai , Maharashtra India.

Ravi Shastri is an all rounder he is right handed batsman and slow left arm bowler. He make his test debut in 1981 against New Zealand. Shastri served Indian cricket in various way. He was also a part of the World cup winning 1983 sqaud. Now he is commentary for India team.

He played for India between 1981 - 1992 in both test and ODI's . He started his career as a left arm spinner but later he transformed into a batting all-rounder. He made his test debut against New Zealand on 21st February 1981 and played last test on 26th December 1992 against South Africa and in ODI he debut against England on 25th November 1981 and played last match against South Africa on 17th December . He also played for 2 domestic teams Bombay and Glamorgan . In his career his test best was 206 runs and in ODI it was 109 runs and his trademark shot was known as "chapati shot" .
