The author of the book, We, the People: India, the Largest Democracy, was written by the author Nanabhoy Palkhivala. He was an Indian jurist, an occaisional author and an economist. In the year 1977, he was appointed as the Indian Ambassador to the United States of America by the Janata Government, which was the first ever, non-Congress Government in India). This government was headed by Morarji Desai, who served as the captain until 1979.
