The reason behind naming Parker Solar Probe after Eugene Parker is that Parker was the first to propose that Sun has sent out the stream of Solar Wind, 60 years ago. Eugene Parker witnessed the launch of the first spacecraft sent to Sun from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center. Present with him were Hitchin scientist Nicky Fox, who led the mission, and the associate administrator Zurbuchen.
