Chilli chicken is said to be an Indo-Chinese dish from the Hakka Chinese region. In India, it was first eaten in the city of Kolkata, West Bengal. The first origin of chilli chicken is said to be that it was created by Indian restaurateur, Nelson Wang, who is of Chinese descent. He not only invented chilli chicken in the year 1975, but he is also given credit for bringing another dish into this world which we all know as chicken manchurian. He is also the founder of the very famous food chain, China Garden. Over the years, chilli chicken has many versions of it, some of them are made dry and some are made along with gravy. Every region of India has a different interpretation of the same dish.
