What is adultery?
Adultery refers to the act of engaging in sexual intercourse with someone who is not one's spouse. In India, adultery was considered a criminal offense until September 2018 when the Supreme Court of India declared it unconstitutional and struck down the relevant section of the Indian Penal Code. Therefore, currently, adultery is not illegal in India.
