What is adultery?
Adultery refers to the act of engaging in sexual intercourse with someone who is not one's spouse. In India, adultery was considered a criminal offense until September 2018 when the Supreme Court of India declared it unconstitutional and struck down the relevant section of the Indian Penal Code. Therefore, currently, adultery is not illegal in India.

Is adultery leagal in india?
It's not a criminal offense in India . In September 2018, the Indian Supreme Court struck down Section 497 of the Indian Penal Code, which made adultery a punishable offense only for men, and not women. So, currently, adultery is not illegal in India for either gender.
